The project aims to implement an effective TB surveillance system in populations known to be at risk, coupled with their treatment on the public health services and the epidemiological analyses of the TB outbreaks in Porto. The specific project aims are the following:

        Identification and early detection of individuals at high risk for TB development among the most venerable population, that           for social reasons tend to escape from the national system of TB screening;

       Monitoring and identification of TB risk factors among HIV-infected patients followed in hospital environment, as well as                  physician's preventive attitudes and treatment compliance;

       Identification of Mtb transmission chains through the classification of Mtb strains that circulate in the city of Porto, coupled            with their association with clinical, demographical and spatial characteristics.
